March 2023: Energy Forecast

Updated: Mar 3, 2023

This month, the cosmos are SUPER active. As we approach the Astrological New Year, Vernal Equinox, and the beginning of Pitta season in the Northern Hemisphere, it may feel like there's electricity in the air.

What I find most fascinating about this time of year, especially this year, is how the energies of Ayurveda and Astrology align to *ignite* our inner agni (the Sanskrit word for fire 🔥).

Both Pitta (in the Ayurveda) and Aries (in Astrology) represent the energy of new beginnings; the passion that comes with pursuing what we love the most. Particularly during the second half of this month, you may feel called to revv up your engines – perhaps the quiet energy you've felt during Kapha season will begin to make way for busier schedules and a faster pace.

Here's what I'm getting this year, as far as what you could consider focusing on:

  1. Planting Seeds: Jupiter and Venus conjunct in Aries are magnifying our passion, impulse and motivation. When Jupiter is conjunct (in the same place) as Venus, there is a magnification of the themes of love, money, and values. The question then is: How can you infuse passion and spontaneity into your relationships without burning the house down? There are so many planets in the sign of the Initiator right now, it's best to have a "throw spaghetti at the wall" mentality for this month, especially when it comes to planning ahead. We are in the very beginning stages of Pitta Season, meaning that our plans are just at the beginning stages of taking flight!

  2. Closing a Chapter/Starting Something New: There's a lot of ending energy this month with the Mercury Saturn conjunction, Saturn leaving Aquarius and Pluto leaving Capricorn. The big question is: What is it that the Universe is trying to teach you? Have you been listening? Additionally, multiple planets are moving into Aries (or are in Aries) this month. Aries is the kick-starter of the zodiac. It's pushing us to let go of the past and embrace the new with excitement and exuberance.

Get your calendar out! I'm going to share some notes about some of the biggest transits this month (note, this is not everything that's happening. Just the big stuff). Here's what you can expect:

March 7 - Saturn enters Pisces, Full Moon in Virgo

Saturn, the planet of lessons, structure and long-term planning is moving into the last -- and most esoteric -- sign of the zodiac. It's transit here will last approximately 3 years!

Saturn does not enjoy being in Pisces, the pragmatic (and, at times, dogmatic!) energy of this planet finds dis-ease in the sign of dreams, delusion and spiritual pursuit.

Personally, I am very much looking forward to this transit. I believe it will help us -- as a society -- bring more practicality to our spiritual pursuits. Over the next 3 years, I think esoteric sciences like Astrology, Ayurveda and Human Design will become easier to understand and more wide-spread.

Together with the Full Moon in Virgo, there's a real sense of planting seeds that will much later bear fruit by finding a more grounded and practical approach to the deeper questions you may have. Balance the Vata (Pisces) with the Kapha (Virgo, Saturn) and you will find what you've been looking for.

March 12 - Jupiter conjunct Chiron in Aries

Wounded healer (Chiron): Meet your match. As Jupiter and Chiron come together in the sky on March 12, we are being gifted with a fresh start as it pertains to our deepest wounds. Think back to your childhood, what is it that you were always being teased for? Or that you were most self-conscious of? With this transit, you may be forced to face this head-on in a way that you haven't considered before.

Remember, Jupiter is the Great Magnifier. Although it may feel "icky", when you are willing to face your inner demons, the true healing can begin. Chiron's invitation, in Aries, is to breath new life into your pursuit of healing so that you can -- finally -- discover what it really means to have self-compassion.

March 20 - Sun enters Aries, Vernal Equinox

Here we go -- happy Astrological New Year! I may be bias (Aries Sun, here), but this is one of my favorite times of the year. The energy just seems to move a little faster. There's a bigger bounce in our step. And plans really start coming together.

What would you like to bring to life this year? Today is the day to set your intentions. Dream Big! Aries doesn't like to hold back.

March 21 - New Moon in Aries

And just like that, the New Moon says: "Not so fast!" Making a square to impatient Mars in the last degrees of Gemini, you may feel that you have to start the New Year off with a bang. But that's not necessarily the right move.

Sextile the long-hauler (Pluto) in it's last degrees of Capricorn, there is, however, a sense of groundedness to this New Moon. It's as if the Universe is anticipating what is to come and providing us with a gentle pat on the back. The seeds you plant today and water tomorrow will bring new and beautiful life into existence.

March 23 - Pluto enters Aquarius

The Great Alchemist moves into the sign of the Innovator today! For the next 20 years or so, our focus as a collective is shifting. We are entering the proverbial Age of Aquarius. Pluto in Aquarius will ask us: Where does our focus on the new and innovative need to shift? What must we let go of in order to discover the deepest mysteries that lie beneath?

This is a pivotal moment for us all. Look to your own birth chart and find the house that Pluto is entering. This will tell you what area of life will be transforming for you over the next 20 years (I find that the Whole Sign house system is more supportive when thinking about these longer transits).
